Welcome to my Website

Hi, my name is Dr Paul Galbally and I am a fully qualified psychotherapist academic applied psychologist and relationship expert based in Hatfield Peverel near Chelmsford in Essex. I have over a decade of clinical experience and have completed extensive training in psychology, counselling and psychotherapy that enables me to work safely and effectively with individual adults, couples and families wishing to work with a specific problem, explore a particular life challenge or to engage in a process of self-development and reflection.

The duration of your treatment can be tailored to your requirements and I have previously arranged to work with clients over time periods spanning several weeks to longer term psychotherapy that takes place over a number of years. Sessions typically take place weekly but this schedule can be altered by arrangement and individual clients can work in person or online.

For your safety and reassurance I hold a valid enhanced DBS certificate, full indemnity insurance and an accredited professional registration.

My Qualifications & Specialisms

I hold a degree in psychology, a postgraduate masters in relationship therapy and a doctorate in applied psychology. I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and hold a senior lecturer position in the school of psychology at a well known London University. I am also a fellow of the higher education academy and a researching academic whose work has been published in international peer reviewed academic journals and books.

My areas of specialism and expertise are family troubles, relationships, divorce/separation, affairs, men's health and masculinity.

My EXPERIENCE & APPROACH

I have worked in clinic since 2011 and have treated clients from social services, the NHS, family court (CAFCASS), Relate Ltd, CAMHS (child and adolescent mental health services), Essex County Council and the private sector.

I take a pluralistic approach to my work:

There’s no ‘best’ way of doing therapy: different clients need different things at different times.
If therapists want to find out the best way of helping clients, we should talk to you about what works for you.

Pluralistic Practice: a form of therapy in which the practitioner draws on a range of methods and understandings to tailor the therapy to the individual client and is based on what the therapist and the client think may be most helpful.

My Garden Treatment Room

My treatment room is a comfortable, peaceful and private space located in my garden in Hatfield Peverel and can be easily reached if driving via the A12 (Junction 20b). The village also has a train station that connects directly to London, Chelmsford, Colchester and the surrounding areas. For any clients visiting by car, a private driveway is available for parking during your session.
